December was tough, January is much better

Yesterday I weighed 184.5, which is only 2 pounds down from my last entry here, but I had a difficult December. But things have been much better during January.

They had too many goodies at my office, and my resolve to avoid them wasn't strong enough during December. Every year at my office they do a snack thing, where the people in my office brings goodies every day during the 12 (working) days before Christmas.

My problem was that I got tempted to eat the wrong stuff between meals, when I should have been drinking my water. Even though I only ate a few each day, I ate cookies, brownies some of the time when I really need to be avoiding all excess carbs. Some of the days I noshed on meats or cheeses, which was good, except that I ate the stuff between meals.

However, I only gained up to 193 pounds (my weight on 1/8/05), which is my highest since December 11th, where in years before I might have gained much more weight.

The good news is that since then I've lost back down, and I think I'm firming up cause my hubby says that I look thinner.

Also, I went out and bought some new clothes, I bought size 22 (women's) pants and size Large T-shirts. It's kind of lucky for my pocketbook that I can still wear some of my larger pants, even though they're baggy, because the elastic waistbands still hold them up. Also my larger jeans have belt loops, so I'm keeping them up with with belts. I know that after I loose closer to my goal weight of 140 to 130 pounds, I will probably be spending lots of money on a new wardrobe.

Another noteworthy thing is that during the past two weeks I've had a bad cold, and I just didn't have much of an appetite, but I tried to drink as much water and tea as I could. However, I just had lots of trouble following the doctor's advice to wait an hour after each meal to drink any water, so I've been probably drinking too soon after eating. (They say to wait, to allow the nutrients in the food to completely absorb before "washing" the food out of the stomach.) I'm hoping this hasn't caused a problem with my body getting enough protein and nutrition. I do feel OK, though.

I'm planning a trip with my family in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to plan all the good things that I need to bring with me on my trip. I need to bring my Pro-Complex protein powder, a hand blender to mix my protein shakes some protein bars, and lots of bottled water. I also need to make sure to plan my time during the trip to get all my exercising in. It might have to be something as simple as lots of walking, or if I'm lucky one of the hotels we go to might have an exercise room. Also, I have a good idea of the type of foods I need to order when we go out for meals. Oh, yeah, I'm bringing a package of low fat string cheese for additional protein, if needed.

I do have an exciting goal . . . my daughter has announced that she is getting married on October 2nd of this year. I want to look good for her wedding, so I hope to loose at least 40 pounds by September, so I can buy a nice mother of the bride dress.

I'll post my picture taken this morning in my size Large shirt. I've been wearing these shirts I got from my favorite A-Cappella group called the ELDOS. My first picture has me in a size 3X, my picture taken in December 2004 is in my size 1X (also called an extra large) and today I'm wearing my large size shirt. Like they say to me at the office, I'm shrinking! (OK, I'm not at my goal yet, but it does feel good that I'm shrinking!)

Peace to you all, :-) Sandi
