Milestone from Oct 8th, 2004 (old news)

Bad News, Good News
Today I fell down while taking my morning walk. I was walking along at a fast clip, listening to my music, in a great mood, and all of a sudden I found myself falling; I had tripped on an uneven place in the sidewalk.
The thing is, it wasn’t too bad. I was a little shaken from the fall, I had scratched my elbows & scratched one knee when getting up (no blood), but the point is, I got up off the ground ALL BY MYSELF! I pulled myself up with the chain link fence, but I probably could have gotten up without it.
I think this is so marvelous because, over a year ago, when I was around 300 pounds (I’m only 5 ft 1 inch tall) when I was starting to take my walks, I fell back then. At that time, I really scratched my knee, and needed TWO MEN to help me stand up!
My weight loss and this weight loss surgery have really been a blessing. I don’t like falling, but it’s a real relief to know that if I do trip and fall, it won’t be as catastrophic for me now that I weigh over 100 pounds less, and as I finish loosing the rest of my weight, it will be even less of a problem. Of course, that is, until I get old (I’m only 50 now) and my bones get brittle (LOL).
Smiles (& slightly scratched elbows)
